Stormwater Green Infrastructure Resilience Assessment: A Social-Ecological Framework for Urban Stormwater Management

چکیده
Urban areas are increasingly vulnerable to the effects of climate change. Stormwater Green infrastructure (SWGI) is seen as an approach increase resilience urban areas, because they can buffer precipitation changes brought on by However, SWGI features themselves need be resilient change able contribute cities. Thus, we aimed develop a assessment framework that could used identify challenges and inform decisionmakers’ efforts enhance resilience. We developed based upon matrix recognize effective categories for reviewing literature critical functionality barriers implementation operation. These included policy, design, maintenance, economic factors social influence functionality. then identified specific aspects under each category assessing resilience, recognizing has functionalities controlling its viability. Unlike other frameworks focused ecosystem services final outcome, worked from socio-ecological perspective in order include socio-economic policy design planning affect service provision. Developing management it reveal facing have traditionally been overlooked, such maintenance factors. This also lead efficient identifying interrelations hierarchical relationships Application this will rely expert input connect broad dimensions with indicators local priorities planning.

Role of Resilience in Sustainable Urban Stormwater Management
Typically, best management practices (BMPs) are implemented to help sustainable stormwater management in urban areas. Over recent decades the selection of urban stormwater management measures for a site has been a challenge among urban planners where thecriterion based on flood volume no longer suffices for selecting urban drainage solutions. Therefore there is a need to consider a set of holis...
متن کاملEngaging Social Capital for Decentralized Urban Stormwater Management
Decentralized approaches to urban stormwater management, whereby installations of green infrastructure (e.g., rain gardens, bioswales, constructed wetlands) are dispersed throughout a management area, are cost-effective solutions with co-benefits beyond just water abatement. Instead of investing in traditional approaches for managing stormwater, such as deep tunnels and high capacity treatment ...

متن کاملUpscaling Natural and Social Capitals forDecentralized Urban Stormwater Management
Decentralized municipal stormwater management, whereby best management practices are dispersed throughout a watershed, are gaining popularity but face unique constraints related to land access and citizen engagement. Decentralized installations require perpetual access to public and private land, a constraint that may be solved creatively in many urban settings through the repurposing of vacant...

Urban storm water runoff poses a substantial threat of pollution to receiving surface waters. Green infrastructure, low impact development, green building ordinances, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) storm water permit compliance, and Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) implementation strategies have become national priorities; however, designers need more sustainable, low-co...
